Junior Design
Team Size: 4 People
Junior Design follows in the footsteps of Senior Design. It sees a team of four individuals developing a solution to a proposed problem with a limited timeframe in which to complete their design. This competition caters to engineering students in their first or second year of their degree. After completion of their design, each team will present to a panel of judges for evaluation.
Senior Design
Team Size: 4 People
Senior Design challenges a team of four individuals to develop and implement a solution to a specific problem within 6 hours. The problem will be presented to each team the morning of the competition. At the conclusion of the time period each team will present their solutions to a panel of judges who will evaluate each design based on criteria such as creativity, cost effectiveness, feasibilty, etc.
Re-Engineering
Team Size: 1 or 2 People
Re-Engineering tasks a team of one or two students with taking an existing technology or product and enhancing it to have new functionality. This new functionality will allow the technology or product to have a new purpose. The solutions will be assessed based on creativity and technical and commercial feasibility
Innovative Design
Team Size: 1 - 4 People
Innovative Design highlights a novel solution to a real-world problem which competitors have prepared in advance of the competition. The competitors will have the opportunity to display their solution for a general audience. The solutions will be evaluated based on functionality, market applicability, and overall design.

Communications
Team Size: 1 or 2 People
Engineering Communications involves a team of one or two students presenting a technical subject in layman’s terms. The presentation will highlight the environmental, social, and economical impact of the technology. The judges will decide on a winner based on their presentation skills and content.
Consulting
Team Size: 4 People
Consulting challenges a team of four students to develop a comprehensive and innovative solution to a presented engineering problem. The team must also consider factors such as economic viability and environmental impact in their solution. The completed solution will be shown to the judges in both a report and a presentation.
Impromptu Debate
Team Size: 2 People
Impromptu Debate has teams of two pitted against each other, fighting for their side of a topic that is only presented to them moments before. The competitors will need to be able to develop arguments and present their ideas in order to convince the judges they are deserving of a win.
Programming
Team Size: 2 to 4 People
The goal of the Programming category is to encourage software engineering students to produce professional quality software with all the proper user and administrative documents. The teams will use their software development skills, technical writing abilities, and project management skills to design a solution.
