ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
SFU EC is the fruition of many restless nights' hard work put in by student leaders from the Engineering Science Student Society(ESSS) and Mechatronic Systems Engineering Student Society(MSESS). Our goal is to create a safe, inclusive and beneficial environment where all students can display their talents and seize the opportunity of potentially competing against the best and brightest of engineering students across Canada. We hope that you enjoy this competing as much as we enjoyed organizing, and look forward to seeing all of you on November 4th.
ESSS
The Engineering Science Students' Society represents any student in an engineering science major or minor. They are a collaborative team of students passionate about creating an inclusive, fun and beneficial environment outside of class. The ESSS, run entirely by students, it also promotes school spirit and fosters community building by providing opportunities for you to interact with fellow students, faculty, staff and industry.
MSESS
The Mechatronic Systems Students' Society represents any engineering major or minor at SFU's Surrey Campus. The MSESS' goal is create more out of class opportunities for their members. They are run entirely by student volunteers, with a goal of advocating for and working with engineering students at the Surrey Campus to make their undergraduate degree more memorable
WESST & CFES
The ESSS & MSESS are part of the Western Engineering Student Society's Team and the Canadian Federation of Engineering Students.
The Western Engineering Student Societies' Team (WESST) is an alliance of engineering student societies across western Canada. We consist of twelve member societies from eleven engineering programs.
WESST helps its member societies share expertise on organizing events, managing budgets and services for undergraduate engineering students. WESST is the governing body that runs WEC annually.
The CFES supports growth and communication within its members to ensure their moral, intellectual, cultural, academic, social, and economic well-being. The Federation represents and promotes Canadian undergraduate engineering students on a national and international level. As member societies in the CFES both SFU engineering programs can compete in the annual Canadian Engineering Competition upon winning at WEC.
